Matt Hughes (-650) vs Chris Lytle (+525)

By Paul Monday, February 19, 2007
I’m just going to touch on this fight quickly. Matt Hughes (40-5), Miletich prodigy, most dominant welterweight in the world bla, bla, bla, in his first bout after he lost the belt, will be against top welterweight contender…..Chris Lytle (22-13-5)?….Really? Apparently the top contenders in the division only want to fight Hughes if the belt is involved.

This fight should be a very one sided version of the Lytle vs Serra fight. The difference here is Matt’s explosive take downs and his power on the ground. In Lytle’s last fight he was not able to utilize his stand up game against the smaller Serra, nor could he stay out of a stalemate in the clinch. Hughes will have no problem over powering Chris and pounding out a TKO in the 2nd round. Hughes will not make the mistake in this fight of believing that he is boxer. Current polls have Hughes as a 9:1 favorite and so far the betting line is holding steady at -650 making this a solid chalk bet.

I'm going to post my bet reccomendations in the following way:
Hughes -650: 6.5 points to win 1 point

This will make it easier to translate my picks into your own bet amounts. The rule of thumb for bet size is 1-2% of your bankroll for any one bet. stick with 1% unless you feel really good about your edge in a bet.
