Pride 33 Betting Odds and Picks

By Paul Tuesday, February 20, 2007
Pride is not my true passion in MMA but there are a few interesting fights on the card for the 2nd American show. I feel very good about this set of bets. Pride, as always, has several one sided bouts that will do nicely to line our pockets.

Smart Bets for Pride 33: All Odds are courtesy of BetCris Sports Book

-Wanderlei Silva -265: 2.65 points to win 1 point
-Nick Diaz +275: 1 point to win 2.75 points
-Mauricio Rua -320: 6.4 points to win 2 points**
-Antonio Rogerio Nogueira –1600: 8 points to win .5 points
-Hayato Sakurai –600: 6 points to win 1 point

Wanderlei Silva (-265) vs. Dan Henderson (+225) [fight at 205 pounds]
Is Wandi done yet…No. Henderson, who is a Team Quest fighter, has an excellent record and earned this shot. But he will not have the power or speed to take out Silva. Silva by TKO.

Takanori Gomi (-325) vs. Nick Diaz (+275) [fight at 160 pounds]
I like this one. Gomi is ripping though his opponents, he has a great arsenal and few holes in his game. But….He’s 5’6” and typically fights around 154 he’ll be moving up a little for this fight. Nick Diaz at 6’0”will be his largest opponent to date. Nick, who usually fights at 170 (he cuts 10-15 to get there), is an unorthodox fighter with surprising striking power and speed. At + 270 the books are saying Diaz only has about a 27% chance of winning. I believe Diaz has a 50% chance, in other words this dog has legs, Diaz by TKO.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (-445) vs. Alistair Overeem (+365)
Shogun is undervalued here and I will recommend ** doubling this chalk bet. Shogun (11-1) will absolutely destroy Alistair (7-6), who by the way he KO’d back in 2005. Rua by TKO.

Hayato Sakurai (-600) vs. Mac Danzig(+475)
Another one sided bout to keep Sakurai’s record looking strong and an easy chalk bet. Sakurai by TKO.

Frank Trigg (+250) vs. Kazuo Misaki(-300)
Frank “twinkle toes” has his new Icon belt and is looking to get back in the big time action. This fight should do the trick. I’m not betting on this one, I’m just going to enjoy. Frank Trigg by submission (RNC)….hahahah.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (-1600) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (+1000)
Antonio is considered to be one of the top light heavyweights in the world and is an easy pick to win against the PRIDE newcomer Rameau.

Joachim Hansen (-1000) vs. Jason Ireland (+700)
Hansen by decision.
