Blogging for Dollars?

As a blogger I'm always looking for ways to increase site traffic and make a couple of bucks to keep the place running. So during the slow times I run sponsored posts (this is one of them)through Payperpost.com. The posts can be about a really wide range of topics, but they usually need to have some relation to your own site, but it can be rather indirect.

Advertisers put up money for blogs that meet certain requirements (size, traffic, Google rank etc) there's usually 80-90 opportunities open at a time and they're values range from $6.00 per post to $1000. A blogger with a well ranked page can make a decent piece change without a lot of effort. Typically I make enough posts (2-3 ) to make 20-30 bucks and cover my blogging expenses.

Just recently Payperpost has announced that they are going to be making some big changes, providing even more opportunities. What will it be I'm not sure but my guess is the ability to name your own price or negotiate on the big ticket posts.

Personally I just enjoy getting to write about what interests me and if there's a way to make $20 a month to support the site I'm happy.

UFC 69 Betting Odds

BetCRIS and BOOKMAKER have released their early odds for the two main fights on the UFC 69 card. Nothing too suprising, St. Pierre is a heavy favorite (-800) and Sanchez (-175) is a slight favorite over Koscheck (+155). ***Note Sanchez was quickly bought up at his opening price and is now at -205 and Kosckeck has moved to +175.

"Rush" will win but the odds for a straight bet aren't worth it. Sanchez vs Koscheck has some value betting either side, I'm leaning pretty strong toward Sanchez winning this outright. I will wait for odds to come out on a few other fights, but I may use a three bet parlay on this card.

American bettors: BetCRIS has created a specific site for us.... BOOKMAKER. The odds are always the same, the seperation was made to deal with money tranfers seperately. You'll notice if you go to BetCRIS to sign up for a new account they are directing US players there now. The new sight has a little different look up front but all the betting features are the same.

UFC Fight Night 9 Card

The first three bouts will be aired and one or two others may be shown if time permits. Most of the fights are in the lightweight and middleweight divisions, so at least the action should be fast paced. The main fight puts two TUF fighters in the cage who are moving up the lightweight ranks and looking to break into the upper echelon.

Joe Stevenson Height: 5' 7" (170 cm) Weight: 155 (70 kg) Record: 31-7-0
Melvin Guillard Height: 5' 9" (175 cm) Weight: 155 (70 kg) Record: 39-6-3

This should be an entertaining fight, Joe "Daddy" is a strong fast ground and pounder with decent submissions as well. Melvin is just looking to take someones head off, his speed and strength get top marks, but his weakness has been takedown defense and working off of his back. If this fight goes the distance Stevenson will win, but I'm looking to an early KO finish by Melvin Guillard. The Odds on this one should come out pretty tight.
Antoni Hardonk - Height: 6' 4" Weight: 245 Record: 5-2-0
Justin McCully - Height: 6'0" Weight: 235 Record: 7-3-2
Hardonk's original opponent was Frank Mir who pulled out due to an injury. His new opponent is Justin McCully, a Tito Ortiz training partner. All but one of McCully's wins came by way of submission and I'm sure working out with Ortiz his takedowns and wrestling are pretty good. Hardonk is a Muay Thai/Wrestling style fighter, who made his UFC debut back in November at UFC 65 with a TKO stoppage due to a leg kick....hmm. Another pair of relatively inactive fighters anything could happen. Hardonk will like be the favorite on the books due to a UFC fight under his belt.
Dokonjonosuke Mishima - Height: 5' 7" Weight: 155 Record:17-5-2
Kenny Florian - Height: 5' 10" Weight: 155 Record: 7-3-0
Is Kenny a good enough fight to have fought for the belt? I was never impressed with his performances, he strikes me as more a survivor than a finisher or top contender. Mishima has a very unique style both on the ground and stand up that will make for a good show and let us see if Kenny is as good as some believe. Florian will be the favorite in this fight, keep your I open for a good value on the dog.
Keita Nakamura - Height: 5' 9" (175 cm)Height:170 (77 kg)Record: 13-1-2
Drew Fickett - Height: 5' 10" (178 cm) Weight:170 (77 kg) Record: 30-5-0
Ficket has a solid set of wins in the UFC including Neer and Koscheck, but he faltered when facing top competition from Diaz, Burkman, and Parisyan. Nakamura on the other hand was unbeaten until his UFC debut last December when he lost to the very good and very unknown Brock Larson. Nakamura and Fickett have similar styles and interestingly both have won most of their fights by RNC. I look for this to go to decision.
Wander Braga - Height: 5' 8" (173 cm) Weight: 155 (70 kg) Record:16-0-0
Kurt Pellegrino - Height: 5' 8" (173 cm) Weight: 170 (77 kg) Record:15-2-0
First off, I'm not sure what weight class this fight will be in but I'm guessing Pellegrino is dropping down to LW. If he can make the cut that would be a better division for him. The matchup is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu vs New Jersey Jiu-Jitsu. I don't know a lot about Braga, but he is heavily favored in polls and with folks who are knowledgeable about venues he has fought in. I'll do some more research and wait for the odds to come out, but this one could end up another good dog play.
There are several other fights on the card but they are not set yet. I like to play a little different style when betting the Fight Night cards. There tends to be mostly new comers to the UFC and they all want to put on a great show, to get future fights. The cards are often full of upsets in terms of the odds. So, this time around I'm going to focus on the best 2 or 3 dog bets and not place any bets on favorites.
