George (11-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is set to show people in his home country what he is all about.
Primarily know for his submission chops, Soiropoulos is more than sufficient on his feet. Most writers and the betting public are giving Joe Stevenson (31-10 MMA, 8-4 UFC) the edge in this fight based on his wrestling. Although both fighters possess a black belt in BJJ, George has been much more proficient and versitile in using that skill to finish fights. Joe has proven he has a very strong guillotine nothing else (the only submission he's won with in the UFC).
As for striking, Joe "Daddy" has the same crisp shadow boxing style as Sherk...full of quick movements and cool KeeYa sounds...but very rarely do they hit their mark. George on the other hand has a sound boxing background and uses it well to set up his ground attacks (note: added boxing training with Leonard Gabriel in Vancouver Washington).
So, will this fight look like Joe vs Diaz, where Joe was able to over power his opponent, hold him down and pull out the decision... or will it look like his fight with Kenny Florian, where Joe was unable to secure the takedown and his excellent shadow boxing skills were destroyed by a technically superior fighter??
I believe Sotiropoulos has more ways to win this fight and will be riding a huge wave of confidence in front of his home crowd and as George said:
"A fighter's name and his fighting quality are two separate things. Just because people don't know my name doesn't mean I'm not a serious threat."At +200, a bet on George has a lot of value, realistically this fight is 50/50 or 55/45 for George.
