Rafael Assuncao’s ankle put a quick end to him headling UFC Fight Night 62 against Uriah Faber. Now the main event spot falls to the welterweight bout between Demian Maia (19-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) and Ryan LaFlare (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC).

The UFC announced the card changes Thursday, February 4th.

UFC Fight Night 62 takes place March 21 at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro. The bulk of the card airs on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Maia is coming off a win over Alexander Yakovlev in May 2014 that snapped a two-fight losing skid. The well-traveled and highly respected Brazilian represents the biggest test to date for the undefeated LaFlare, who only fought once in 2014, a unanimous-decision win over John Howard at UFC Fight Night 39 in April.

Maia is ranked No. 10 in the latest welterweight rankings while LaFlare sits just outside of the top 15 in an honorable-mention slot.

It will be tough card for fight picks with another batch lesser known fighters. Start your research now.
