Sportsbook Funding

This section applies mostly to people from the U.S. looking to deposit money in sportsbook. The banking laws here have forced the books to be very creative in how they bring money in. Typically they have to go through some sort of third party. The options vary from Western Union Cash Transfer, online ewallets, prepaid visa cards, or credit cards.

No matter what method you use to fund an account be patient if you are using a method for the first time.

**My primary deposit method is to call the sportsbook directly and they are able to charge my bankcard directly with no further steps and to date 100% approval. When I try to use the same card at the same site for an online deposit, it gets denied everytime.

Additional Deposit Options:

Prepaid VISA Debit is the best option if your personal bankcard won't work. Just look away from the Enquirer next time you're at the store and you'll see racks of Prepaid VISA cards. Grab one and put any amount up to $500 on it. Make sure you grab the VISA option as opposed to the Mastercard. You can get them online too, but you have to wait for it to show up in the mail, just grab one while you're buying beer for the fights and use it to load your betting account tonight!

Walmart Money Card is an excellent option that can be purchased and loaded online. Many bigger bank cards and credit cards have started denying charges from companies believed to be "gaming" sites. Prepaid cards however are not experiencing this issue and the Walmart card is widely accepted at sportsbooks.

Western Union money transfers can be done online or in person at most grocery stores. The online option is very nice because you can use your credit card or bank account to fund it. The sportsbook of your choice will have you initiate a transfer - put money in your WU acct - and then they will give you the final transfer instructions to make a person to person money transfer. It takes about 15 minutes and it's the most reliable method available.
The NetSpend debit card works just like a bank-issued debit card, only better. First, you'll need to load money onto your debit card. Then you'll be able to make purchases in stores, shop on the Internet, and pay your bills. Unlike a bank-issued debit card, you do not have to worry about overdraft fees. You can only spend what is in you have loaded onto your FDIC insured account.
Specific Sportsbook Deposit Options:
BetOnline     Money Transfer, Credit Card (online or by phone)
Bodog          Money Transfer, Credit Card
Wagerweb   Money Transfer, Credit Card
5Dimes         Money Transfer, Credit Card

Withdrawl Options:  This one is pretty simple, 99.9% of all withdrawls will come in the form a check. If the amount is very large you will want to get a certified check to assure proper delivery. The turn around time on a withdrawl varies by sportsbook, but I've never waited more than two weeks and I live in the middle of nowhere.

Remember these sportsbooks are not fly by night businesses looking to scam a few thousand dollars from one person. This is a billion dollar industry and they have all built there business on gaining your trust and the trust of BIG players. Each one has at least a decade of history behind them and you should feel secure moving your money in and out of any of these books.
